CRATE Literary Magazine Open for Submissions

CRATE Literary Magazine now open for submissions to their next 2015 issue. They are looking for pieces of fiction, poetry, non-fiction, dramatic work, and visual art. The submission deadline is November 15, visit their website for guidelines and to submit. Their most recent issue, SPRING 2015, featured poetry by Kara Wang, Kenzie Allen, T. Call for Academic Submissions from Palaver

The University of North Carolina Wilmington‘s (UNCW) interdisciplinary journal Palaver is seeking academic submissions. Palaver is an online journal housed in UNCW’s Graduate Liberal Studies Program and are looking for content that, “defy the confines of a single discipline.” Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and follow MLA guidelines. Due to the volume of submissions Palaver receives, they ask that academic pieces run no longer than twenty five pages. Palaver does not accept previously published work, be it print or online. Saints and Sinners LGBT Literary Festival

The 2016 Saints and Sinners LGBT Literary Festival‘s Writing Contest’s Deadline has been extended to November 2, 2015. Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop Submissions Open

Callaloo, the premier literary journal of the African Diaspora, is now accepting applications for the 2016 Brown Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop (CCWW). Thursday, October 22 at 5:00 pm is the deadline to submit to The Guild Literary Complex for their 2015 prose awards for short fiction and non-fiction. Every fall, the Guild Complex acknowledges emerging and established writers via a judged competition and recognition at the historic Chopin Theatre in Chicago. Narrative Magazine Poem of the Week

This Sunday marks the beginning of the 2015-2016 cycle of Narrative Magazine’s poem of the week contest. Authors are paid $25 (reprints) to $50 for a selected poem, a chance to win $150 if selected as one of the years Top Five Poems of the Week, and eligibility for the $4,000 Narrative Prize. Submit for the PEN/Fusion Emerging Writers Prize

The PEN/Fusion Emerging Writers Prize has extended their deadline until October 26th. The prize recognizes a promising young writer under the age of 35 for an unpublished work of fiction that addresses a global and/or multicultural issue. The winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize and be honored at the 2016 PEN Awards Ceremony next spring. Eligible applicants will have the chance to have their work read by distinguished writers and editors Marie Arana, Manuel Gonzales, and Johnny Temple of Akashic Books. Miami University Press 2016 Novella Prize

The Miami University Press is now accepting submissions through October 15th for the 2016 Novella Prize. Submissions must be between 18,000 and 40,000 words and require a $25 reading fee. The Novella Prize winner is offered $750 against royalties, a standard contract, publication, and ten copies of the book. All entrants receive a copy of the winning book.
