Sonora Review is still open to contest and non-contest submissions for Issue 77 until November 15th! Sonora Review is run entirely by graduate students in the MFA program at the University of Arizona. They are among the oldest student-run literary journals in the country, and SR has been devoted since its founding in 1980 to offering a venue for exciting new and emerging authors, as well as prominent writers and artists. Boulevard is now open for general submissions and their fiction contest!   The deadline for the fiction contest, which includes a $1500 + publication, is December 31 at 11:59 p.m. CST, but don’t wait until Christmas to start writing. Graduate students and postgraduate scholars are invited to present their research, scholarly or creative work at the Queertopia 2020 conference at Northwestern University on February 29.   Entering its 13th year, Queertopia is an annual LGBTQ+ academic conference organized by Northwestern University’s Queer Pride Graduate Student Association. The 28th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language and Media (MCLLM) at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, is currently accepting proposals for 15-20 minute presentations from individuals and panels. Thin Air, a MFA run literary journal at Northern Arizona University, is now accepting work for their online and printed publications through Submittable. Their print issue– published annually each spring– will accept submissions until December 1, 2019. Nowhere Magazine, a literary travel-writing publication, is now open for submissions to their Fall contests! Miami University in Ohio to invites students to submit to OxMag, their graduate student-run literary magazine. They are seeking submissions of art, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, with a particular interest in those voices who have been traditionally underrepresented. Submissions are open until October 15th. Ready your pens and keyboards—it’s submission season!   Subito Press, a small non-profit publishing company established by the University of Colorado Boulder’s creative writing department, is currently holding a contest for book-length works of poetry or prose and are in their last push for submissions. The 29th Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize competition is now open for submissions in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. First-place winners in each category receive $5000, feature publication in the spring issue, and are honored at a gala reading and reception in Columbia, Missouri. Glassworks is accepting submissions through December 15, 2019!   Glassworks, the literary magazine of Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Writing graduate program, publishes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, hybrid pieces, and artwork both digitally and in print. They are currently reading for spring and fall 2020 print issues. They also publish flash fiction, prose poetry, and micro essays monthly in their online edition Flash Glass.
