Young Chicago Authors puts on the largest poetry slam festival in the world, Louder Than A Bomb (LTAB) during the months of February and March. Based on the success of LTAB, they have extended the competition and community to young adults ages 18-25 and created Louder Than a Bomb University (LTABU). The competition runs March 8th and 9th 2019 at Chicago State University.   Cagibi is a journal of poetry & prose that has garnered praise in its first year for its quarterly online issues, publishing emerging writers side by side with our literary heroes. Submissions are now being accepted for CAGIBI’s inaugural Macaron Prize. The Writers’ League of Texas is holding a manuscript contest, with the winners in 10 categories receiving a registration to the 2019 Agents & Editors Conference ($400 value) and a one-on-one consultation with the agent who selected their manuscript as the winner. The conference is June 28-30 in Austin, TX, and brings 20-25 agents and editors to downtown Austin for three days of panels, presentations, and one-on-one consultations. SLAB is announcing a final call for fresh voices to publish in their literary magazine. SLAB is published annually by the English Department of Slippery Rock University, and they are currently seeking entrants for the Elizabeth R. Curry Poetry Contest. Kathy Fagan will be the judge for this year and the first-place winner will receive $600, publication in SLAB, and a limited edition, hand-bound chapbook of the winner’s poetry.
